It’s the sixteenth annual “Wide World of News’ Can You Top This??!!” contest.
Jerry Austin of Ohio says this:
I was in attendance at Maris’ 61st.
At the last game the Giants played at the Polo Grounds.
I also was in attendance for Bunning’s perfect game against the METS on Father’s Day ‘64 and at the Buckner game in ’86.
And Bobby Thomson’s “shot heard round the world “ in ’51.
Send an email with your list to markhalperintalk@gmail.com if your record of attending iconic sporting events can beat Jerry’s.
Any new king o’ the hill will be announced over the weekend.

On the one hand:
USA Today suggests both a Dr. Oz surge and that said surge says something about Republican Senate majority prospects.
On the other hand:
Politico joins and helps solidify the (accurate) Conventional Wisdom when it comes to the Senate:
Barring some big change (or a far larger Red Wave than the data is picking up currently), realistic Republican pickups remain only in Nevada and Georgia, while Democrats are still on legit offense in Ohio and Pennsylvania (and North Carolina).

On the one hand:
Putin is annexing, killing, threatening.
On the other hand:
Davis Ignatius produces his most bullish column to date on the prospects that a patient West + Zelensky can wait out and beat Putin – plus, The Force is with them.
