WHAT: A 2WAY episode via Zoom to discuss how the Dominant Media should cover Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign
WHEN: Tuesday (1/6) at 1pm ET for about 45 minutes
HOW: On the 2WAY platform via Zoom at this link
WHO: All are welcome to join for free
I’ve been doing journalism for a long time.
On most questions of practice and craft throughout my career, I have had pretty clear positions, easily arrived at, about how to cover the news.
Even in the complex world of presidential campaign coverage, I typically have been able to arrive at definitive points of view on even the most challenging issues.
However, since 2015 (and, really, since at least 2011) the questions revolving around the matter of how to cover Donald Trump, politician, have been as thorny as a hillside overgrown with bougainvillea.
I’ve worked very hard at covering Trump well, and/but, as my critics rightfully point out, I’ve been far from perfect.
So with another long stretch here in what is, almost certainly, Donald Trump’s last campaign for public office, let’s convene and see if we can figure out how the Dominant Media can do better at rising to this occasion.
Please join veteran news executives and journalists Jill Abramson, Tom Rogers, Todd Purdum, Mike Barnicle, me, and others in a relentless search for some best practices.
As always on 2WAY, we will go for a conversation like no other, with a perpetual Presumption of Grace and a deep hunger for information and insight.
See you tomorrow at 1pm ET on 2WAY via Zoom.
