Tale of Two Biden Scenarios

On the one hand: Joe Biden has been telling allies to spread the word that he is staying in the race and the Democratic family should STFU and close ranks around him to focus on beating Donald Trump. There’s a case to be made that Biden’s view of the poll numbers and his chances of winning might be closer to the truth (it’s July!) than the panicked position of those (Clinton and Obama types) claiming a Trump landslide is inevitable.
On the other hand: Nancy Pelosi ally Adam Schiff today called for Biden to quit the race; a new Associated Press poll shows Democrats overwhelming agree with Schiff; a new Biden interview soundbite about a health issue possibly causing him to step aside has turned heads and raised eyebrows; the DNC has pushed the virtual roll call date back; and all sorts of chatter about donors and the Speaker Emerita have led sources to say a major, subtle, nuanced, Pelosian soft-yet-steely push might be at hand.
