* Hogan Gidley’s birthday (celebrated and actual)
* Kamala Harris
Vice President Kamala Harris will meet with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters on Monday to court a last-minute presidential endorsement from the union, amid lingering resentment among some members for its overtures to her rival Donald Trump.
The suspense around the decision has brought outsized attention to the 1.3 million-member union for an announcement that typically comes after both party conventions — and typically goes to the Democratic nominee.
* Donald Trump
[Trump] was to be briefed in person Monday by acting Secret Service director Ronald Rowe about the investigation into the assassination attempt, according to a person familiar with the plan for the briefing who was not authorized to speak publicly.
Former President Donald Trump on Monday is expected to announce the debut of a new crypto platform called World Liberty Financial that will be controlled by sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump.
The Republican nominee for president plans to discuss the new venture from his Mar-a-Lago resort at 8 p.m. ET on September 16, 50 days before Election Day. In recent weeks, the Trumps have been promoting the endeavor on social media, touting it as "the future of crypto."
Trump's 18-year-old son Barron, a first-year student at New York University, is identified as the project's "DeFi visionary," according to a white paper on the project obtained by cryptocurrency news site CoinDesk. DeFi, short for "decentralized finance," is a term that refers to financial services offered through public blockchains.

ESSENTIAL READING/VIEWING
* Des Moines Register Day 2 poll story has a familiar ring to it:
Majorities of likely Iowa voters say former President Donald Trump would do a better job handling inflation, immigration, foreign policy issues and housing prices than Vice President Kamala Harris.
But a majority say Harris would be better at handling abortion.
The results are part of a new Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll that asked likely Iowa voters which of the two major-party candidates would do the best job handling seven issues.
Trump receives majority support for six of the seven issues, trailing Harris only on the issue of abortion….
In the race for president, Trump leads Harris among likely Iowa voters by 4 percentage points, 47% to 43%. The Trump-Harris matchup represents a significant narrowing in the race since the last Iowa Poll in June, when Trump led 50% to 32% against President Joe Biden.
