“The Undecideds” is a new, unprecedented 2024 battleground state project from the interactive video platform 2WAY that will bring together the most critical voters in the country, drawn exclusively from the seven states that will pick the next American president.
Through a unique combination of synchronized polling and focus groups, viewers will meet, learn about, and hear from fellow citizens in Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, Nevada, and Arizona, and watch as they grapple with indecision about whom to support for president – or whether to vote at all.
By combining the data-driven power of quantitative research (polling) with the textured epiphanies that come from qualitative research (focus groups), 2WAY will give the public the kind of real-time information typically only available to top campaign commanders and the candidates themselves.
The polling and research work on “The Undecideds” is done by 2WAY’s partner Wick Insights, the Georgia-based market research firm that uses cutting edge technology and time-tested methodology to produce best-in-class results in survey research.
Around 150 million people across America will vote in 2024, but the story of the election will be told by less than 4%, about 6 million voters in seven battleground states who can be grouped in many different ways, such as:
* The first- and second-generation Hispanics in Arizona;
* The “I was a Republican until Trump” voters in Pennsylvania;
* The “I was a Democrat until Biden” voters in North Carolina;
* The Arab-American voters in Michigan;
* The Blue state refugees in Georgia.
Until now, America has been left with few insights into these small, hard-to-reach and hard-to-understand segments, the VIVs, or Very Important Voters, who often prefer to keep their opinions to themselves.
2WAY will change this reality.
In a political and media environment in which public opinion polls will be plentiful, “The Undecideds” provides a unique, rich perspective on the battleground state voters who -- by virtue of where they live and how they will decide to cast their ballots – are the most important citizens in the nation to hear from and track.
The first installment of the series, the week of April 8, focuses on voters from the three Great Lakes battlegrounds -- Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania -- states that were swept by Donald Trump in 2016 and by Joe Biden in 2020, all by narrow margins.

We will begin with a debut screening of the full 45-minute focus group, followed by a discussion of the poll with Mark Halperin, Wick Insight’s CEO David Burrell, and leading political analysts, along with, as always, questions and comments from the 2WAY community. During the 6pm hour, we will also review and discuss some of the highlights from the session.

The value of the “The Undecideds” project is its capacity to provide a window into why this group is having trouble deciding whom to support, what factors will shape their ultimate decisions, and how events that occur in real-time during the campaign season will affect their thinking.
Among the sentiments expressed by participants in the focus group:
* Donald Trump’s economic policies are seen as better for their families than Joe Biden’s.
* Biden’s record on a range of other issues – and Trump’s temperament and divisiveness – were both clear advantages for the incumbent.
* Every participant expressed the belief that the timing of the Trump criminal prosecutions was based on politics.
* No surprise: these voters are not happy with the choices on offer from the two major political parties.
